Despite the domestic football season drawing to a close in Europe, there is still some great action across the globe, specifically the Chinese Super League. The CSL has attracted a huge level of attention in the last 12 months, with the majority of franchises being heavily backed by large multinational corporations and subsequently huge sums of money being spent on some of the world’s top players. Perhaps the most high profile of these players is Carlos Tevez, who’s Shanghai Shenhua side take on Tianjin Teda this week. Tevez moved to China in January of this year and the deal made him the second highest paid player in World football, behind only Ezequiel Lavezzi. Other notable additions to the CSL over the past season are Jackson Martinez, who now plays for Guangzhou Evergrande, and his team travel to Yanbian Funde, who are one of the only clubs to not make a high profile signing since the current boom began!

Aside from football, this week we’re also bring you a host of action from other top sports! The French Open got underway on Monday and despite 5 high profile giant killings already, both Novak Djokovic and Rafa Nadal remain on course to meet in the semi-final with the former having won his second round tie this morning and the latter currently 2 sets up against the veteran Robin Haase. Following his first round victory yesterday, Andy Murray takes on Slovakia’s Martin Klizan in what will be only the second meeting between the two. Murray won their previous encounter in straight sets and with that in the back of his mind, should easily dispatch of the world number 50.

Elsewhere this week we see the start of the ICC Champions Trophy, for which England are 11/4 favourites to lift the trophy, having been runners up 4 years ago to eventual winners India. With no World Cup this year and The Ashes not being contested until late November, this is the biggest cricket tournament of the summer and something that will most definitely attract the attention of anyone with a passing interest in the sport.

Finally, the NBA finals get underway on Friday, as the Cleveland Cavaliers take on the Golden State Warriors in game one of the seven match series, in what is a repeat of last year’s finals!  bet365 currently have the Warriors as favourites to take the crown, priced at 5/13, whereas Lebron James’ Cavs come in at 43/20. Last year’s series went right to the wire, with Cleveland securing victory by just 4 points in the final game and the Warriors will be wanting to avoid any worry of a repeat by getting off the mark early!
